It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
Born and raised in Brooklyn NY, I got into this game under the influence of my dad Ross Faillace aka DJ Ross The Boss who use to be a DJ on WKTU back in the day which is now known as 103.5 KTU. Through his guidance it molded me into the music blender I am today, and he opened the door to so many opportunities for me by giving me the courage and knowledge to play in rooms I never thought I’d play in. Through the years I have played in rooms all over the five boroughs for nightlife tycoons such as Carmine Gaultieri and George Karavias. Under them I have worked at venues like: District, Wonderland, Harbor and Bounce just to name a few. Playing with DJs like: WallyWobbles, AJ Micelli, DJ CAMILO, Nick G, Funk Flex and Scram Jones to name a few. I got to where I am through hard work, dedication and my unique style of playing open format for any crowd. As my dad once told me: “Play it, feel it, hear it and move the crowd one Dancefloor at a time.” That is what I live by, and I play; Everytime like it’s my last time.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
The biggest challenge has to be my age, being 22 years old and being recognized as a household name. Being so young people look at me like I don’t belong however I jump that hurdle by showing I belong and proving to people that I can not only live up to the hype but I can take a room and take control rather quickly through my ability on the 1 and 2.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I am an open format DJ however; I specialize in Hip Hop. So, whether I’m playing the new school Sexxy Red or I’m slamming the old school Notorious B.I.G, I am playing to the best of my ability to give everyone a show and their money’s worth. What sets me out over the competition isn’t that I’m better, but that I give people a show through my crowd interaction and quick mixing skills. I keep the crowd engaged, energized and motivated to have the time of their lives every time I perform. It’s more than hiring a DJ, I am a show within the show and no matter what room or where I am on the card, I am going to give you a main event quality performance each and every time I play.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
My best of advice for readers and everyone in general is that you can never give up and you have to believe in yourself no matter who believes in you. You have to follow your dreams and one day all your hard work and dedication will pay off tremendously. So never quit and always be the best you that you can be whether it’s at home, school, work or even while doing a hobby.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success by textbook definition is the accomplishment of a specific aim or purpose. However, to me, success is more than just achievement, success is being the best you that you can be as I said previously. Just because you complete a task doesn’t make you successful it’s what you do after that to remain successful. A lot of people attain success but for a little bit of time, you need to gain longevity with your success and that’s what I strive to do and that’s what everyone should be doing and if you’re not maybe you are doing it wrong and need to reevaluate. I feel I’m successful because when I kick down one door, I’m already in route to break down that door in front of that one.
What’s next for you?
I think honestly what’s next for me is that I will follow my dream and take the path towards live radio. I plan on going to college to achieve all degrees in the field of broadcasting and digital media. I’d like to mesh that with my already obtained knowledge of Djing and performing and become a well-known name on the radio, so not only can you hear me perform at your favorite local nightclub, but you can hear all over while you drive in your car and so much more.
